The First Appelation ever in Brazil

Vale dos Vinhedos is located in Bento Gonçalves, Serra Gaúcha, Brazil, where the Family owned winery is established and vineyards have been grown by the Pizzato house since 1968. Wines which have provenly been produced with a few specific varietals grown in this region, having passed analytical and taste quality criteria, may carry the denomination of origin identification seal (D.O.V.V. – Denominação de Origem Vale dos Vinhedos – Vale dos Vinhedos Denomination of Origin).

The Pizzato grapes from Vale dos Vinhedos produce concentrated, complex wines with good maturation potential. The vines are older, with low yield, which allows the winemaker to explore the maxim about wines getting  better with age.

D.O. Vale dos Vinhedos explained

Vale dos Vinhedos is the first appellation ever in Brazil. It started in 2001 as a simple Geographical Indication (GI), then developed to a D.O. in 2009. It’s an area covering 73 square kilometers with several wineries dedicated to premium wines
